What if it's a record winter? Can a seasonal snow price go up mid-season?
On a true flat-rate seasonal contract, no: the number you signed is the number you pay, however much snow falls. Some contracts add a snowfall cap or an overage clause, so read for one before you sign.
A cap usually says the flat price covers snowfall up to a set total, and service beyond it is billed per event. It is not a trick, but it moves the risk of a record winter back to you, and it should be stated plainly on the first page rather than found in February.
Hauling snow off site is often priced separately from plowing, because it only happens in the heaviest winters when a lot runs out of room.
